However, on-site BMPs can be costly to developers, dif‚cult to construct on some properties, and dif‚cult to maintain. Dif‚cult site geology or shape can result in high costs. If improperly sited or poorly constructed, placing BMPs on numerous small sites could result in many slightly useful but dif‚cult to maintain BMPs. It can be politically dif‚cult to impose costs on the private sector for what some see as a government responsibility.
