ABSTRACT
Behavioural adaptation happens, sometimes. That behavioural adaptation occurs only sometimes suggests that certain conditions must be met before a behavioural response that was not desired takes place. The challenge to researchers and theorists has been to explain why it occurs only sometimes and to offer a predictive model that can assist designers and practitioners in managing unwanted behavioural responses to changes in the vehicle or the road system.
