ABSTRACT

The definition of BA that is used in this chapter and throughout this book is based on the OECD (1990) definition: ‘The collection of behaviours that occurs following a change to the road traffic system that were not intended by the initiators of the change’ (p. 23). This will usually but not exclusively imply that there were negative or unsafe changes in behaviour. The main focus is, however, on unintentional adaptations or changes in behaviour.
