How can this be? Is it not well known that angle quintisection is impossible using the Huzita-Hatori axioms1? Lang quintisected using a secret weapon: the multifold. In “Angle Quintisection” [5], Lang explains that quintisection is impossible if only one fold is allowed at a time. However, if one allows simultaneous folds in a single origami maneuver, quintisection can be achieved.
