ABSTRACT
Date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) has a wide ecological range, including desert oases, mangrove margins, steep limestone cliffs, and cultivated lands. It can thrive on a wide range of soil types, from light sandy to heavy clay soils, from waterlogged soils to extremely arid soils, and it can tolerate up to 1.5% salinity (Amer 2000).
