ABSTRACT
As of this writing, there has been no published update to Section 17 although RP 2A has been updated in other ways. ISO 19902 (2007) has a chapter on existing structures that is a derivative of the API guidance, but also contains minimal detailed or quantitative information. Virtually no other offshore design code addresses the issue of existing structures. However, API is planning to publish a document separate from API RP 2A on this subject. This document, which will be called API RP 2SIM (Structural Integrity Management), will extract and expand upon the relevant sections in API RP 2A on assessment, inspection, strengthening/repair, and reuse of structures that already exist. The time table for publication is sometime in 2010.
