for their high electron density, unique redox and magnetic properties, and good electrochemical responses (Bildstein 2000; Bandoli and Dolmella 2000). Ferrocene and its derivatives have found applications in asymmetric catalysis (Arrayas et al. 2006) and electrochemistry (Kulbaba and Manners 2001), and as functional biomaterials (van Staveren and Metzler-Nolte 2004) and biomedical materials (Neuse 2005). In addition, the cyclopentadienyl rings of ferrocene can be readily functionalized, and their properties can be regulated or modified by different substituents (Horikoshi and Mochida 2010).
