ABSTRACT

Traditionally, virtual training has been referred to as a training delivery method using a simulated virtual environment. By this definition, flight simulators are early examples of virtual training. They were developed at the beginning of the 20th century. At that time flight simulators consisted of mechanical equipment, levers, and controls. The training was virtual as it was simulated, as opposed to being carried out in a real airplane. Later in the century, computer technology was developed and flight simulators began to deliver a virtual reality experience, which is one form of virtual training as it is known nowadays.
