ABSTRACT

In designing steel bridges, a precise estimation of the steel weight as a part of the dead loads is essential at the beginning. However, the steel weight depends on the sizes of girder section, which will be determined in the nal design. e assumption of the steel weight at the beginning of design must be made as accurate as possible based on the data from actual constructions. If this assumption was not right, the design might lead to inadequate results and must be redesigned. Hence, the estimation of the steel weight is very important.
