ABSTRACT
Health and safety are indeed an area where common language and interpretation of data and information are essential to protect workers. Today, with a highly global and mobile workforce, this need is even greater. More importantly, when contractors as a work group make up 75-80% of the workforce as is the case in the oil and gas industry, it is imperative that organizations seek to develop common languages, terminologies, standards, procedures, and practices so as to minimize the confusion that these highly important groups of workers are exposed to.
