ABSTRACT

In the prevision of surface settlement induced by shield driving for the time being, the routine methods are empirical formula, numerical simulation and model test. With help of centrifugal machine in high speed, centrifugal model test can impose more than n times centrifugal force, and compensate weight loss caused by 1/n shrinkage rule. Which also can maintain the same stress, strain, fracture mechanism and similar deformation between the proto and model. So studying geotechnics problem on which the most important load is gravity by the way of centrifugal model test is a perfect way[1]. However, because it difficult to simulate drilling of shield machine in earth. Model test faces large difficulty in studying shield tunneling. Some scholar like Zhou has made a lot of model test in tunnel engineering of South-to-North Water TransferProject by control of injecting and releasing air quantitative of pockets around tunnel model, and studied the relationship between support stress and stratum displacement, influence of construction space, and mechanism about the stability and destruction[2][3]. Wu, Liu and other scholars simulated drilling tunneling by the way of

melting paraffin with coupling between stress field and filtration[4][5].
