ABSTRACT
In the early 2000s, international standards organisations began developing speci›c regulations concerning the manual handling of loads. ISO 11228-1 [ISO, 2003] and EN 1005-2 [CEN, 2003] focus speci›cally on lifting tasks, which will be explored in this chapter. Various European countries, including Spain and Italy, have adopted and used these standards as application guidelines for their national legislations (based on European Directive 90/269) concerning the manual handling of loads.
