ABSTRACT

A second simplified version of this mixer was developed featuring only one flat blade. The material used was a polymer powder of mean diameter 520 µm and of bulk density 0,5 kg/l. The particle density was around 1 kg/l. The radioactive tracer had the same density as the powder and a diameter of 600 µm, close to the mean diameter of the bulk. Both bulk particles and tracer were of spherical shape. These similarities in terms of size, density and shape ensured that the behavior of the tracer was representative of the behavior of the bulk particles by preventing segregation.
