ABSTRACT
The size reduction, comminution, involves the fracturing of particles and generating new surfaces. In many cases comminution is a desired activity. For rocks and coarse particles it is necessary to have the suitable fragment size distributions. In agglomerates, it is desired to have the stable particle dispersions.The liberation of constituents from the materials, either valuable aggregates or contaminates, require an efficient cracking method to liberate them in the same shape and strength as they were. The research is mainly focused on how to generate multiple number of cracks in spherical shaped particle compounds to achieve higher liberation degrees, for which the knowledge of particle fracture is necessary.
