After iron and steel, they are the most common metals today and offer significant benefits when using oxygenenhanced combustion.

China has developed to be the largest nonferrous metals-producing country worldwide. The copper production numbers shown in Table 23.1 relate to secondary

production only. Primary production and remelting are not shown. In 2009 around, 10 million tons per year of secondary aluminum have been produced. The secondary copper production (from scrap) of the same year was near 1.4 million tons.1 Production of lead in 2010 was ca. 9.3 million tons. Major producers of secondary aluminum and copper are the seven countries listed in Table 23.1.
