ABSTRACT

Thermal oxidizers, sometimes called incinerators, are designed to burn, and in many cases destroy, waste materials that may sometimes be contaminated with hazardous substances. The very word “waste” often means different things to different people. For example,

newspapers thrown into the garbage of the average citizen can be recycled and made into more paper or can be burned in an incinerator to generate power and steam. To the citizen the paper is waste, to the paper recycler the newspapers are feed materials, and to the incinerator the newspapers are a fuel source.
