ABSTRACT

In the wildlife profession, research and management are the cornerstones that should be forever linked to maintain and enhance wildlife and the habitats they depend on for survival. Unfortunately, research and management often work against each other for an array of reasons (e.g., management has to proceed without all the necessary data, land con¦icts, and economic concerns). I present the major causes of disagreements between research and management (i.e., poor communication, narrow focus of universities, lack of cooperation, differing objectives, research that is not relevant to management, competition for resources and funding, and uncooperative administrations).
