ABSTRACT

Just a few years ago, social media was still considered a new trend. A number of websites such as YouTube and Flickr were used as a private tool for social networking, mainly used for uploading and sharing user-generated videos and photos. However, the mass adoption of Facebook, Twitter, and a number of other real-time online social networks (OSNs) over the past few years secured the role of social media as a valuable source of information. Through the development of smartphone technology, more and more people are adopting smartphones and are connected to the Internet all the time. Thereby, OSNs have gained massive number of registered users, allowing social media to serve a real-time platform for information sharing anytime and anywhere.
