ABSTRACT
The work of gear design involves the solving of special design problems. The designer may learn much about standard gear design practices and then —nd that most applications tend to need something “special.” In this chapter, we shall consider some sample problems where special gear-design work is needed. The solutions to these problems will illustrate some of the many calculations that a gear specialist may need to make from time to time.
