All these issues such as introduction of new chemicals, exposure standards, hygiene approaches to reduce exposure, and practical approaches for implementation of industry-wide prevention strategies are covered in this chapter. In the final paragraphs, evidence on the effect of exposure-reducing strategies on the burden of disease will be discussed. The emphasis in this chapter is on primary prevention. At the end, specific attention is given to exposure prevention for the allergic worker.
