ABSTRACT

Teams of the future will have expanded memberships with clients, customers, vendors, and other business partners. Team development in a project environment is becoming a priority to keep organizations more competitive in the marketplace. As team productivity becomes more essential, organizations are expected to invest more in outsourcing leadership specialists in team development. Improving “cross-functional effectiveness by providing an on-line platform for virtual team collaboration” was identified as the primary means to combine global and local talent. Educating, inspiring, and influencing team stakeholders will play a more important role as information dissemination becomes quicker and easier. Organizations will promote project professionals with an entrepreneurial mindset capable of challenging the status quo assertively and influencing team members and other stake-holders successfully to make systems and processes increasingly agile. Managing upward can expand team access to valuable business information affecting projects, reduce unnecessary time waiting for approvals, and increase team ownership and pride through better sponsorship support.
