ABSTRACT
The basic idea of snakes or active contour models is to evolve a curve, subject to constraints, from a given image I, to detect objects in that image. For instance, starting with a curve around the objects to be detected, the curve moves toward its interior normal and stops on boundaries of objects, as shown in Figure 9.1.
