ABSTRACT
Introduction Surgical removal currently represents the treatment of choice for most solid tumors regardless of the patients’ age. A robust body of evidence supports this, and it was clearly demonstrated that long-term cancer-related survival is comparable between different age cohorts. An accurate comparison of different series demonstrated no inferiority in survival in the older age group, although the presence of a selection bias that favours geriatric series should be considered.
