ABSTRACT
Tretinoin should be started in advance of the chemical peel. Six weeks or more is preferable. Once re-epithelialization has occurred, tretinoin should be re-started initially using a low concentration emolliant or cream preparation such as 0.02% Renova™ or 0.025% tretinoin cream. Newer retinoic acid receptor creams such as tazarotene can be used pre-and post-peels and may be more effective than tretinoin.
