ABSTRACT

In an effort to simplify enterprises infrastructure and reduce their support profile, more enterprises will move away from the once popular BlackBerry Enterprise Server infrastructure and migrate toward Exchange ActiveSync plus a mobile device management (MDM) infrastructure; the MDM will help more granularly manage mobile users. With the enterprise infrastructure in place, the security of practitioners BlackBerry device population is controlled with their BlackBerry Administration Service. Keep in mind that by default, there is no security applied, so practitioners will need to implement security policies on the devices that align with and enforce their company’s information security policies. As mentioned in the Blackberry Enterprise Server section, practitioners must keep their Microsoft Exchange/ActiveSync security infrastructure up to date. Regularly monitor and control access to the environment, investigate anomalies, and be diligent about correcting security issues when they arise.
