ABSTRACT

Cloud and mobility have not only changed the landscape of information technology, but also reshaped consumer and enterprise expectations. Due to the tectonic shifts in the realms of cloud and mobility, security practitioners have to evolve from a lockdown mindset and embrace a paradigm that enables the business to have agility and ubiquity while maintaining a sound security posture. There is a plethora of definitions for cloud computing, from slick marketing buzzwords to highly technical terms. The most authoritative definition comes from the National Institute of Standards and Technology in its Special Publication 800-145. Cloud computing is a model for enabling ubiquitous, convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction. The four cloud computing deployment models are public cloud, private cloud, community cloud and hybrid cloud.
