ABSTRACT

The first jurisdiction to be covered in this section of the book is the United States.1

Energy policy in the United States can be likened to ‘catching smoke’ as at one level the United States has no full scale, comprehensive, or coordinated national energy policy other than reports and several pieces of legislation called energy policy that address specific industries or specific problems. However, the United States has, in fact, a traditional identifiable energy policy built up over a number of years.
