ABSTRACT

Hepatic metastasis is the second common metastasis following lymph node metastasis in NETs ( 3 ) ( Fig. 16.1 ). Up to 45% of patients with abdominal carcinoid will present with bowel obstruction and more than half of patients who were explored for bowel obstruction due to NETs are found to have hepatic metastases. Despite of the fact that liver is the common metastatic site of NETs, primary hepatic NET is extremely rare (0.6% of all NETs) ( 2 ). In this chapter, we describe specifically about the management of hepatic metastases of NETs.
