ABSTRACT

The Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 states that every business must keep its employees as safe as possible from physical hazards. Keeping a work environment free of hazards is a nearly insurmountable task. Doing so requires careful use of the management tools of organizing, planning, leading, evaluating, and controlling. Every task, workstation, tool, operation, and machine must be carefully examined for safety issues. Working toward this end takes input from every employee in the organization. Everyone has an equal responsibility to remain alert and up to date in hazard detection. Equally important is a total commitment to support the motor ¢eet safety program, and everyone in the organization must aid in this effort as well. Only a program that has the total commitment of all employees will be successful.
