ABSTRACT
Technological advancements in the past have led to many changes to the world in which we live. Many of these changes have improved our society and quality of life. Some, however, have had detrimental effects on both humans and the environment. Transportation is no exception. It was not so long ago that people traveled by walking or by animal-powered means. Automobiles came along and made travel signiœcantly faster. Giant tractor-trailers have the ability to move huge amounts of goods in a fraction of the time it once took. The transportation industry-speciœcally, motor ¢eets-operates more efœciently than ever before and continues to improve the means and safety of goods distribution.
