ABSTRACT

When you start with R from the R Project Web site (https://www.r-project. org/), you will see the following:

S is a quantitative programming environment developed at AT&T Bell Labs in the 1970s. S-Plus was begun in the 1980s, and R was begun in the 1990s by Robert Gentleman and Ross Ihaka of the Statistics Department of the University of Auckland. Nearly over 30 senior statisticians provide the core development group of the R language, including the primary developer of the original S language, John Chambers, of Bell Labs.
