ABSTRACT
We continue our study of natural convection with details concerning heat sinks. This is a very short chapter as only vertically oriented heat sinks are covered here. Since radiation heat transfer has not been addressed in any detail up to this point, the reader is advised to study the material concerning U-channel radiation in Chapter 10. Furthermore, thermal conduction spreading effects (source hot spots) are not included in this chapter. Please consult the appropriate section of the spreading resistance in Chapter 12 to learn how to include the spreading effects into your analysis.
