ABSTRACT

Design and fabrication of piezoelectric devices involve many experimental trials, which are expensive and time consuming. Theoretical analysis of a device using nite element methods (FEM) helps in designing a particular device for best performance. Many nite element software tools are commercially available that can be used for creating virtual prototypes and computer simulations. The use of this software helps in optimizing experimental parameters without going through expensive and time-consuming practical testing. Testing may be carried out virtually with various designs and new materials.
