ABSTRACT

A copyright is a form of protection provided to the authors of “original works of authorship” including literary, dramatic, musical, artistic, and certain other intellectual works such as software, both published and unpublished. The copyright protects the form of expression rather than the subject matter of the writing. Using any third-party content with permission can result in both criminal and civil liability, including treble damages and attorney fees under the US Copyright Act. Management controls are necessary to manage the security program and its associated risks. They are nontechnical techniques, driven by policy and process, and are put in place to meet IT protection requirements. Operational controls focus on controls implemented and executed by people to improve the security of a particular system. Network security addresses requirements for protecting sensitive data from unauthorized disclosure, modification, and deletion.
