ABSTRACT
The new motors differ in terms of the technological maturity, power density, and potential applications in different navy ships. For that reason, much of the debate over electric propulsion today concerns selecting the electric motor since it is associated with specific corporations competing for the electric propulsion business of the navy. A preference for a certain type of motor can thus lead to a preference for the proposal from one company over the others.
