Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains the leading cause of death in industrialized and developing countries (Rosamond et al. 2008).
Major clinical manifestations of CVD include myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease, stroke, and peripheral artery disease (Rosamond et al. 2008).
