ABSTRACT
A tool is defined as "an implement used to modify raw material for use." One of man's most distinctive characteristics is the ability to shape and mold the physical world around him. The use of tools has transformed man from a relatively harmless, subtropical vegetarian to a predatory omnivore. Some animals use sticks and stones to accomplish a task, but the ability to make and use tools is one of the significant differences between man and animal. Human beings create things, which is essential to the development of culture and technology.
