ABSTRACT
Pragmatism continually dominates human activities, particularly in those areas related to survival and accommodation to the physical environment. Hand tools have been an integral part of human cultures and human activities for multiple millennia. Hand tools must exist and will always exist. The important questions posed in this chapter are 1) why have hand tools been created, 2) why do they continue to exist, 3) how are they used by human beings?
