ABSTRACT

Silica is considered the second behind oxygen in abundance in the earth’s crust, comprising 28% of the lithosphere. Silica is sparingly soluble in water with concentration ranges between 1 and 30 ppm in natural water to almost 1000 ppm in brackish waters and brines.
