ABSTRACT

Geometry is the branch of mathematics concerned with the properties and relations of points, lines, surfaces, and solids. The majority of people probably don’t look back at the geometry they learnt at school: the area of a circle, the lengths of the sides of a right-angled triangle, the volume of cubes and cylinders, not forgetting those reliable tools of the trade, the compass and protractor, with nostalgic fondness. I therefore hope that you are not too put off by a chapter devoted to geometry.
