ABSTRACT

One way to obtain nanostructured metals is plastic deformation, which is based on the formation of a highly fragmented and disoriented structure due to large shear deformation [1, 2]. Torsion under high pressure (THP) is one of the effective methods of shear mega plastic deformation [3]. In the method of THP shear deformation occurs due to torsion sample movable peen. Due to the specific method of THP (see Fig. 24.1) has a radial inhomogeneity of the degree of deformation in different areas. At the same time, one cycle of deformation can be obtained by different structures of the radial dependence of the shear deformation, but deformation general parameters: pressure, temperature, and the angular velocity of shear. Attached coaxially with the center of pressure of the sample, usually reaching several GPa, plays an important role. First, it creates in the central part of the sample area quasi-hydrostatic compression, preventing the destruction of a homogeneous sample. Second, it increases the frictional force between the peen and the sample.
