ABSTRACT

Fuel cell technology has been much heralded in recent years as a keystone of the future energy economy. In association with the hydrogen economy, it has been strongly promoted by the governments ofmost of theworld’s leading industrialized nations. It is quite likely that the fuel cell’s impact on society will be revolutionary. In the long term, fuel cells will be an essential component of any hydrogen or similar clean energy economy, in the short term they promise enhanced conversion efficiencies of more conventional fuels and will deliver large reductions in CO2 emissions.
