ABSTRACT
This chapter gives a short overview of the effects of aging on skin structure, func-
tion, and quality, together with the positive skin benefits and effects of a variety
of anti-aging ingredients that have been derived using biotechnological
approaches. It covers the effects of:
1. Ligands of specific cellular nuclear receptors that improve epidermal
differentiation, that increase the levels of dermal matrix components,
and that reduce melanogenesis.
