ABSTRACT

The field of sexual medicine has been revolutionized over the last two decades. Several treatment options are available today, most of which are associated with high efficacy rates and favorable safety profiles. The recent success in the use of phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) inhibitors for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) has made oral therapy an attractive first-line treatment. Not all patients respond adequately to such therapy, however. Further, the management of patients who fail oral therapy is often ill defined. Local vasoactive agents continue to offer an alternative therapeutic solution for these men. This chapter will describe the available local penile therapies for ED and other selected male sexual disorders (Table 1).
