ABSTRACT
TECHNIQUE Preparation Excision planning and marking should be done with the patient in the upright position, to minimize apparent distortion of the relaxed skin tension lines, and prior to the infiltration of anesthetic, which can distort tension lines and obscure lesion margins. Prior to marking, hair in and around the operative site may be removed using a clipper or scissors, though preoperative shaving should be avoided due to increased risk of wound infection.
