ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION Perhaps the most dramatic intervention in esthetic surgery is the face-lift. It has become a symbol for what is good and bad in cosmetic surgery. If it is performed in the appropriate patient, and with meticulous technique and appropriate vectors, it can produce a very satisfying, natural-appearing rejuvenation. Yet, it is not a forgiving procedure. If the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) and skin are pulled too tight and in a horizontal manner, the patient will have a wind tunnel, saran wrap appearance, which neither produces a youthful look nor a happy patient.
