ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION The pursuit of a permanent youthful look is an endeavor that is not unique to our time, but rather spans world history from ancient Egypt to the present. Ancient Egyptians portrayed ideal facial aesthetics in their sculptures and carvings, and utilized facial makeup to enhance the appearance of the face and hide facial blemishes. Greek artists, followed by artists of the Renaissance period, continued to portray esthetic facial ideals through their works. Since these early times, the concepts of facial aesthetic ideals continue to evolve (Fig. 1).
