ABSTRACT

A successful installation of a coordinate measuring machine* (CMM) in a manufacturing facility is a delicate mix of the proper equipment with the parts it will measure, the environment in which it will function, the people who will operate it, those who will maintain it, and those who will use its results. Careful consideration and planning of the installation, programming, xturing, data output formatting for the application, and operating personnel will yield higher productivity and quality. Failure to consider one or more of the key elements will lead to difculty in operating the CMM, as well as ineffective use of resources.
