ABSTRACT
Measurement is an integral part of our everyday lives. It is something that most people take for granted. In looking back at the evolution of measurement, one nds that it relates directly to the progress of mankind. This chapter provides a brief historical summary of this evolution from the perspective of industrial metrology.
