ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the heat transfer characteristics of refrigerant mixtures are discussed, including evaporation and condensation. The single-phase heat transfer of mixtures is affected only to the degree that the transport properties change. As can be expected from the phase equilibrium characteristics of mixtures, the heat transfer behavior of mixtures in the two-phase range is quite different from that of pure refrigerants. In this chapter, the various features of the heat transfer of mixtures are described and recent efforts of heat transfer measurements and the development of correlations are summarized.
